Madhya Pradesh is one of the leading states in the country in mineral production. In the year 1999-2000, the output of major minerals was :

Limestone	22.31 m.
Diamonds	40668 carats.
Iron-ore	92 thousand tonne.
Manganese ore	326 thousand tonne.
Bauxite	248 thousand tonne.
Copper ore	74 thousand tonne.
Rock-phosphate	155 thousand tonne.
Dolomite	103 thousand tonne.
Coal	43.0 m. tonnes.
