PAY MORE FOR SHOPPING ONLINE
Online shopping in Madhya Pradesh is all set to cost more as the state proposes to levy 6% tax on e-commerce transactions.
MP will be the third state after Uttarakhand and Jharkhand to slap tax on e-commerce business.
Presenting the state budget here on Friday, FM Jayant Malaiya announced that tax would be levied in the form of entry tax.
This is one of the many measures of the government to generate more revenue. It will help to improve tax administration, he announced amid thumping of desks by treasury bench members.
The finance department is carrying out an exercise to understand losses incurred by the government following increased online shopping, highly placed sources said.
